My MD 380 allows me to associate a Scan List of Contacts which can be scanned when enabled in the radio. This Scan List in annotated in the programming for a Channel.
I'm connected through a ZUMSpot to Brandmesister. If I set my radio to scanning, will the contacts actually be scanned/heard over my radio. I've tried this with no luck so far.

The MD 380 also allows one to attach a Rx Group list of contacts to a specific Channel program. According to the literature, the radio should not only hear the primary contact in the channel but also all of the contacts listed in the Rx Group List. Will this work running my radio through a ZUMSpot hot spot connected to Brandmeister? No luck with this so far either.

Jim

I can't get into my Brandmeister Self-care site. They were supposed to send me an email for validation, but I never received it. I've tried to register over again, but it keeps saying my account isn't activated yet pending my email confirmation. Don't know what to do......

Okay, I contacted Brandmeister Admin and they straightened out my account. Now I'll try your suggestions, So far, I haven't found access to statically link TGs through Self-Care. All self care gave me access to so far is entry of some profile data. Can you point me to the Self Care entry poin

Left hand menu, My Hotspots, choose the one for your unit. (It may be best to assign your hotspot an SSID rather than using your radio ID, so as not to confuse things) Down near the bottom, there is a box for static TGs. Your hotspot may need to be connected to do this.

Okay. I know that most repeaters have a number of open static groups that you can monitor one or all. I wondered if BM had static groups, but what were they. Turns out I can set the static groups for my hot spot using the BM Self Care window. Set a number of Static TGs. Change them any time.

Yes, either a scan list or an Rx group list does work, BUT you must also have those groups active either by static linking through Brandmeister Self-Care, or dynamic linking through your radio. If you have several TGs statically linked, for example, then you can use either an Rx group or the "monitor" function to hear them. I don't have a 380 so I'm not sure how the Scan List of Contacts works, but if it does just that -- scans a channel for a list of contacts -- then that will also work. You can also use dynamic linking, but be aware that dynamic links expire after a certain time, while static links do not. Once those links expire (I think it's 15 minutes) then you won't hear the TGs anymore until you re-link.
