Talk to Parrot on TG

We have a nice test system on the BM network: The Parrot. You can send to the ID 262997 and get an echo of you call back. Unfortunately on my mobile TRX - the MD655G - you can not address a call to a private ID but only to talkgroups. Can you please add a TG to contact the parrot system?

Hello. As you know with Brandmeister, as soon as someone PTT on a Talkgroup, the transmission becomes available to all repeaters on all Brandmeister master servers. This is done through the FastForward links between all the masters. If a Parrot Talkgroup were to be created, this would have multiple negative effects, the most important ones being: the audio tests would create unnecessary traffic on the entire Brandmeister network, and only one person at a time could use the Talkgroup because in BM all Talkgroups are distributed worldwide.

This is why it makes more sense for the Parrot functionality to be a private contact; which is routed directly from the sender to the recipient.

With regards to the MD655, PD0ZRY has posted a screenshot showing how you can create an entry in your codeplug using a private contact instead of a Talkgroup, which will work for the Parrot functionality: link text

Let us know if you have further questions. Thanks!

Unfortunately we cannot add TG to parrot. TG call will be addressed to all behind the master, are you sure you want to disturb all with your parot tests? :)

There are officially already other parrot TG (unfortunately I can't reach one of them). And I know another DMR network where the parrot is available on the TG. So I don't understand the problem.

There are NO officially available parrot TG. If you want to mention DMR+ they can do they they want.

You missed the point. There is no # key and no other possibillity to make a private call using the MD-655G. You can even not choose or call a contact you have programmed.

I did not miss the point please see the feature list Second to last: Versatile voice calling: individual call, group call, broadcast call, emergency call, data call So it is possible to do a private call.

Could you please explain how to do this with this radio? I am very interested in this feature too.

The radio can receive private calls. And if you answer quick enough, you will send out the answer as private call, too. But I have no option found to initiate a private call by myself.

If you don't have a DTMF keypad, you can add 262997 as a private contact to your radio's contact list. After that, you can select the contact by using the buttons on your radio, and while the cursor is highlighting the parrot contact, press the PTT.

No, you can't do that with the Hytera MD655. There is no option to open the contact list or select a contact.
